Description
Jan Mirikitani leads the class in group discussions on the topics listed below. The goal is to get Supervisors to consistently commit to their department’s missions for public safety & to develop their subordinates to achieve those outcomes.
It is also about understanding their role in building community trust. First-line supervisors have come from the ranks but must now embody community & department goals bigger than their friendships with other Officers. The training focuses on the Supervisor’s communications skills and commitment to Officer wellness & morale.

- Professionally handling public complaints.
- Proofing & editing Officer reports towards quality narratives.
- How to coach Officers for improved performance & correct violations.
- Assessing & managing difficult & toxic employees & their impact on department morale, & public trust, if left unchecked
