Domenic Cappelluti
Domenic Cappelluti is a veteran street cop and detective with the Waukegan (IL) Police Department and former Group Supervisor for the Lake County Major Crime Task Force. With over 20 years on the job, Domenic has specialized in high profile violent street crimes, including homicides, murder for hire cases on gang and narcotics officers, and officer involved shootings. During his career, Domenic has and supervised the Criminal Investigations Division and the Gang Suppression Unit. Domenic has investigated hundreds of gang and drug related operations throughout Lake County and the Chicago metropolitan area, primarily targeting Chicago-based street gangs. He is fluent in Spanish and Italian and has successfully conducted thousands of interviews, including interrogations in Spanish with Hispanic street gang members.
Domenic is nationally recognized for his teaching and vast experience in criminal interrogation, homicide investigation, and gang enforcement and has testified as an expert witness on these subjects in several states. He is Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI) and the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his accomplishments in homicide investigation and urban gang enforcement.
Domenic passionately teaches law enforcement officers and federal agents across the United States and Mexico and was selected to represent a U.S. government agency, internationally, to provide interview and interrogation training and instruction on effective street interviewing techniques. Domenic is the creator of the Gang Combat Dynamics series, Criminal Related Interviewing Made Easy (CRIME 1-2-3), Investigating Gang Homicides, Testifying in High Profile Cases – and much more. Still working the street today, Domenic’s teaching methods, credibility, and fresh approach always make for an interesting and valuable training experience.
