Adam Chacon

Adam Chacón is Lead Instructor for Alentado Training Consultants based out of Cartersville, Georgia.  He is a 26-year veteran of law enforcement, 23 years with the Urbana Illinois Police Department, retiring in January 2017.  During those 23 years he accomplished many of his professional goals and served on several duty stations.  As a native Spanish speaker he was an incredible asset to his department and to his brothers and sisters in blue:

  • 12 years as a Patrol Sergeant – final assignment: Watch Commander – Patrol Division.
  • 10 years as a Field Training Officer.
  • Adjunct faculty member at the Police Training Institute (PTI) at the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign since 1994.
  • Served as only bilingual hostage negotiator for the Champaign County METRO/SWAT TEAM.
  • Supervised Hostage Negotiations Unit for METRO/SWAT TEAM (2005-2008).
  • Worked with multiple state, county and municipal Illinois agencies, the FBI, DEA and U.S. Marshals Service on cases involving Spanish language.
  • Investigated full range of incidents at the patrol level.
  • Served as investigator/interpreter on homicides, attempted homicides, drug interdictions, sexual assaults, and child sex assaults, as well as other major cases and critical incidents.

 

Adam began with Partners in Training Consultants (PITC) as a Spanish Instructor and has been certified since September 2000.  He continued to work with Jose Alentado and PITC to develop multi-media training materials and resources to support their curricula and methodology.  Adam also developed and created manuals for Spanish for Office and Service Professionals.

He was an instructor for the Illinois Police Corps (Western Illinois University) from 2002-2003. Adam developed and has taught Police Spanish Training based on the PITC methodology for the Illinois Police Training Institute (PTI) since 2001.

Over the last 16 years he has instructed over 2,800 hours in the following Spanish language programs:

  • Spanish for Office and Service Professionals  (3-day)
