Description
This training will help officers assess their level of risk exposure by examining court decisions that have interpreted acceptable standards of law enforcement conduct. The nature of police work in the United States – which includes use of force, high speed driving/pursuits, and arrests – lends itself to complaints and lawsuits from the public. Over the last two decades, police agencies and individual officers have been the subject of intense public scrutiny. Patrol officers must have a working knowledge of the developing laws relating to civil liability and discipline. These laws guide police operations, training and officer conduct.
