Lindsey Shelton
Lindsey Shelton is a trial attorney who has been prosecuting cases for 9 years. She started her career as a prosecutor in Winnebago County, Illinois where she was assigned to various units including juvenile, domestic violence, and a felony trial team. While there, she was chosen by the Rockford Register Star as one of “14 to Watch in 2014.”
Lindsey is currently working in the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office where she supervises the Domestic Violence and Elder Abuse Units. In her current position, she leads the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Elder Abuse Task Force and Domestic Violence Coordinated Community Response Team. She is also an integral part of two multidisciplinary teams in Macon County that meet regularly regarding child physical and sexual abuse as well as elder abuse. These teams include law enforcement, victim advocates, adult protective services, forensic interviewers, the Department of Children and Family Services, and attorneys.
During her time as a prosecutor, Lindsey has tried approximately 50 jury trials with a winning track record. These trials include high profile cases and a variety of offenses, ranging from homicides, violent crimes, sex offenses, drug cases, crimes against children, official misconduct, and financial crimes. She is also the current Chairperson for the East Central Illinois Fatality Review Team, a multidisciplinary team that reviews suspicious deaths of persons 60 years of age or older and adults age 18 to 59 with disabilities.
