Brian Nanavaty
Captain Brian Nanavaty is a 30-year veteran of law enforcement. He recently retired as the Professional Performance Manager for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department where his innovative officer and agency wellness and development programs have created a culture of health and have resulted in a reduction of departmental disciplinary referrals by 40%.
During his career, Nanavaty has instructed thousands of officers, supervisors, executives and clinicians in the areas of personal and career survival. He has been featured on Police One.com and in Law and Order magazine and in the FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin. He has instructed for the Department of Justice and Safe Call Now, and at IACP, ILEETA, IADLEST, NOBLE, FOP and FBI conferences.
Nanavaty was previously Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Indiana and Purdue Universities where he was the recipient of the Faculty Excellence award. In 2015, Nanavaty was the recipient of the DOJ, BJA and NLEOMF Destination Zero Valor award for agency wellness and in 2016 was a finalist for IACP Officer of the Year. U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch stated, “Captain Nanavaty’s agency and officer wellness program in Indianapolis should be the model for law enforcement wellness across the United States.”
