Brian Tison has been a sworn officer for over 27 years, serving with both the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the University of Illinois Police Department. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division and is a certified Master Firearms Instructor. Brian is an active CIT Officer for UIPD. He also serves as Hostage Negotiations Team Leader for the Champaign County METRO SWAT Team and is Vice President of the Illinois Crisis Negotiators Association (ICNA). Brian teaches the police response portion of the 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) course statewide. He was one of the first officers in the state to be trained as a CIT instructor and has taught extensively for Mobile Training Units in Illinois. Brian has presented at National CIT Conferences in Florida and Ohio and at state negotiation conferences in Illinois, Louisiana, and Wisconsin. In 2006, he was named CIT Officer of the Year for the State of Illinois.
