Charles Huth

Major Charles Huth currently serves as Commander of the Traffic Division for the Kansas City (MO) Police Department. He is a dedicated law enforcement leader with 29 years of progressive policing experience, including assignments in community relations, high-risk investigative operations, policy development, officer training and development, crisis negotiations, continuity planning and public relations. Charles has a track record of leading strategic initiatives that effectively safeguard citizens, officers and property. He has managed up to 200 staff and held $25 million in budgetary responsibility for a city with a population of 500,000+.

He formerly led the Street Crimes Unit Tactical Enforcement Team, where he served over 2,500 high-risk warrants and coordinated/executed more than 500 high-risk tactical operations, including violent crimes in progress and successful hostage recoveries. Charles is a licensed national defensive tactics trainer, a court-certified expert witness in the field of police operations and reasonable force, and the state of Missouri’s defensive tactics subject matter expert. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Multi-Disciplinary Studies from Grantham University and an Associate’s Degree in Police Science from Park University.

Charles is a senior consultant for The Arbinger Institute. With offices in 20 countries, Arbinger is a recognized world-leader in improving organizational culture, conflict transformation, and changing mindset. Charles is an adjunct professor for the University of Missouri – Kansas City, and an instructor at the Kansas City Missouri Police Leadership Academy. He serves as a consultant for the KCPD’s Office of General Counsel, the Missouri Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission, and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. He is a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association and the National Tactical Officers Association.

Charles is the President and CEO of CDH Consulting L.L.C., serving international law enforcement, military and corporate clients. He serves as the past-president of the National Law Enforcement Training Center, a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to delivering effective training to the international law enforcement, corrections, security and military communities.

Charles has 35 years of experience in the martial arts, with a background in competitive judo and kickboxing. He is an accomplished author and co-wrote, Unleashing the Power of Unconditional Respect-Transforming Law Enforcement and Police Training, a text book used in promotional processes and graduate programs.
