Chris Weinbrenner

Deputy Chief  Weinbrenner started his law enforcement career in 1998 as a volunteer Police Cadet for the Crestwood Police Department. In November 2001, he became a Certified Police Officer with this agency, attending the NEMRT Police Academy. In January 2004, Deputy Chief Weinbrenner was appointed as a Patrol Officer for the Addison Police Department, attending the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy (SLEA). He has been a member of the Department’s Traffic Safety Unit, Special Projects Unit, and Major Crimes Evidence Technicians Unit. He has also served as a Sergeant and Commander for the Department.

Deputy Chief Weinbrenner has a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and a Master of Science degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University. He has held certifications as a Crash Reconstruction Specialist, Truck Enforcement Officer, Crash Data Retrieval Specialist, Forensic Mapping Specialist, BERLA Specialist, Child Safety Seat Technician, Juvenile Officer, Police Cyclist, Breath Operator, RADAR/LIDAR instructor, Standard Field Sobriety Test instructor, Procedural Justice instructor, Evidence Technician, Public Information Officer, CALEA Accreditation Manager, Training Coordinator, Grant Manager, Alive at 25 instructor, and BASSET instructor.  He was formerly a member of the DuPage County Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigative Team and the Northern Illinois Critical Incident Stress Management Team. Deputy Chief Weinbrenner graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and was a former class supervisor for the SLEA, Safety Committee Chairman for the Police Department, Vice President for the Illinois Police Accreditation Coalition (I-PAC), and President for the Police Pension Board.

Deputy Chief Weinbrenner continues to instruct for multiple training units throughout the State of Illinois and the NEMRT and SLEA police academies. He has received numerous distinguished service awards and commendations during his time with the Department, including the Fricke Cooper Achievement Award, SLEA Instructor of the Year Award, and special recognitions from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), the I-PAC and the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction (ACTAR).
