Dr. Thomas L. Trice

Dr. Thomas L. Trice holds a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice and Pre-Law from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he received “The Distinguished Alumni Award.”  He has two Master’s Degrees in Human Resource Development and Leadership Management, and a Doctorate of Management with a focus in psychology and sociology from Webster University.

Dr. Trice has more than 20 years of experience in local, state, and federal law enforcement.  He retired at the rank of Captain from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department and received numerous commendations for his public service, including being named “Illinois Top Law Enforcement Officer of the Year” in 2005.   While at the sheriff’s department, Dr. Trice served as Supervisor of the Criminal Investigation Section, Supervisor of the Drug Tactical Unit (a federally commissioned unit), Supervisor of the Street Crimes Unit (targeting high crime neighborhoods), and Chief of Security over the St. Clair County Courthouse.  He also worked as an undercover agent for both state and federal law enforcement and was an active member of the prestigious Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis.

Dr. Trice has taught several courses in criminal justice and received the “Excellence in Teaching Award” for his teaching methodologies.  He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Department at Lindenwood University in Belleville, Illinois.  His combination of practical experience, education, and teaching pedagogy is unique and has aided him in becoming a transformational leader of teams.  His academic focus on the psychology of leadership and his understanding of criminal justice issues has assisted him in implementing a number of positive law enforcement strategies.

His professional accomplishments include being a Nationally Certified & Licensed Polygraph Examiner and a long-term member of The American Association of Police Polygraphists, a member of the Academy of Management, and being recognized as one of the “Top 50 Investigators” in the nation.  Dr. Trice is also CEO and President of a consulting and private investigation company called TRIKEN Consulting, Inc., established in 2009.  At present, Dr. Trice serves as Vice President of the Illinois Polygraph Association.
