Emily Hejna

Emily Hejna has been a police officer with the Alton Police Department for over 12 years and was recently promoted to the rank of Sergeant.   During her time at Alton PD, she has been assigned to the Patrol Division and to Investigations.  In addition, she has served as the department’s Public Relations Officer, Sex Offender Registration Coordinator, and CIT Liaison Officer.

Sergeant Hejna was certified as a CIT Officer in 2008 and began serving as a Role Play Evaluator for the 40-hour CIT course later that year.  As a CIT Trainer, she has helped hundreds of officers increase their knowledge and grow their passion for consumers in crisis.  As an active CIT Officer, she has helped countless individuals in need gain access to mental health services in her community.
