Jim Glennon

Lt. Jim Glennon, the third generation in a family of law enforcement officers, began his career in 1980 with the Lombard Police Department. Retiring as a Commander, Jim held positions as a patrol officer, detective, sergeant, and Commander of the Investigations Unit. In 1998, he was selected as the first Commander of Investigations for the newly formed DuPage County Major Crimes Task Force. Jim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Police Management. He attended the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University where he was elected class president, received the prestigious Kreml Leadership Award, and began teaching for Northwestern within months of completing the 400-hour course.

Jim taught the Calibre Press Street Survival Seminar for eight years and served as both Lead Instructor and Director of Curriculum. In 2012 Jim’s company, LifeLine Training, acquired Calibre Press and the Street Survival Seminar. He is the first law enforcement officer to own the company in its 30-year history. Teaching various courses for both law enforcement and private industry, Jim specializes in seminars that deal with officer safety, interaction skills, and leadership. Jim has been a featured writer for both Law Officer Magazine and lawofficer.com. He is the author of the book, ARRESTING COMMUNICATION: Essential Interaction Skills for Law Enforcement and co-author of the 2018 update of the book STREET SURVIVAL: Tactics for Armed Encounters.
