This course is certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.

Description

This training has been approved for 8 hours credit toward the 32-hr. recertification requirement for Lead Homicide Investigators.

The course will cover a wide range of constitutional issues that affect police operations and procedures. The instructor will examine federal and state court decisions that continue to impact how law enforcement professionals conduct criminal investigations and other police activities. The curriculum has been designed to meet the practical needs of police officers by refreshing their knowledge of basic constitutional principles and showing how these principles apply to field work. Instruction will provide an understanding of the application of constitutional principles to law enforcement and demonstrate to officers how this knowledge can be used to their advantage, fostering better police work, more successful prosecutions, and safer communities.
