Description
This 1-day course will assist departments with reducing injuries that occur as a result of personal, professional, and training endeavors. The course is designed for sworn personnel, as well as defensive tactics, fitness, and use of force trainers. Participants will learn new skills for injury avoidance, particularly with respect to knee, back, neck and shoulder damage. Instructors will also identify the safest and most effective weightlifting regimens for law enforcement practitioners. Emphasis will be placed on injury reduction in the weight room and improving officer performance through “police specific” weight training routines.
This is a hands-on course. The physical demands and pace of the training require that participants have an adequate level of fitness and are physically capable of active participation. Part of the training will be held in the weight room at the Champaign Police Department. Soft clothing or workout attire is recommended.
The program will be conducted by the Police Kinesiology Company (PKCO), based in Charleston, Illinois. PKCO has presented this training for several Illinois Mobile Teams and has received outstanding student evaluations.
