Description
This course will examine recent trends among teens involving “Sexting” and how law enforcement can effectively deal with juveniles who manufacture and distribute inappropriate material. Participants will learn how to train parents through an educational website and give juveniles consequences through restorative justice education in lieu of adjudication.
The class will learn how to develop a safety plan for dealing with offenders and how to educate parents on the tools available for monitoring their children. Instruction will cover cell phone evidence and recovery, computer evidence and recovery, email attachments, social networks, and current laws governing the possession, manufacturing, and distribution of child pornography, obscenity, and harmful material. Proposed legislation for protecting children will also be examined.
