  • Human Rights  (every 3 yrs.)

Description

This training has been approved for 32 hours (maximum credit) toward the 32-hr. recertification requirement for Lead Homicide Investigators.

The course will provide students with “hands-on” training in state-of-the-art techniques for managing and processing crime scenes. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing, documenting, collecting, preserving, and analyzing physical evidence — with particular attention paid to the sequential processing of evidence for latent fingerprints. Presumptive testing of suspected blood at the scene will be covered along with the enhancement of blood prints. In addition, alternative light sources will be addressed, both for the detection of trace evidence and for illuminating fingerprints. All students will have the opportunity to process a variety of evidentiary items during the week.

This training will benefit investigators, coroners, and crime scene technicians. While there is no prerequisite for the course, participants should have some field experience and a working knowledge of crime scene processing.
